Mither Tap shawl design is worked in both knit and crochet.

Named after a hill in the NE Scotland Grampians - Mither Tap - is the main summit of Bennachie, the shape of the shawl echo’s the outline of the hill.

It’s an asymmetric shape, worked in garter stitch throughout for the knit panels, and an open lace design for the crochet panels.

Starting with a narrow knit panel, and gradually shaped with a double increase at the beginning of a knit row, and a single decrease at the end of the row. Crochet panel increase is taken into the pattern to give a continual outward sloping edge.

Pattern is written using UK terms for both knit and crochet. There are step by step pictures showing all techniques used.
