Mittens from the Island of Runo
Pattern calls for 4 oz (113.5 g) of main color and .5 oz (14 g) of contrasting color.
From the pattern description: “These mittens incorporate the unique weaving traditions of the Island of Runo. Weaving is done with a contrasting yarn of the same weight or slightly heavier than the main yarn. This contrasting yarn is neither knit nor purled, but simply carried across the front of the work as indicated by the chart. Separate lengths of yarn are used for each round, and the ends are woven in later.”
