PLEASE NOTE YOU CAN SUBSTITUTE ANY SUPER BULKY YARN WITH THE SAME GUAGE IN STS/10 cm or 4in
I was inspired to design this funky, fast, super chunky, textured cardigan by my love of all things comfortable, dramatic and pink. I absolutely love it, it’s all about synergy and happy random combinations. I bought a mass of slub yarn in discontinued colors (still available from me or online) and paired it with an easy care affordable acrylic chunky. I used a super chunky washable merino mix yarn for the rib. Use any super bulky yarn that meets the gauge. It’s kinda slouchy and is worn here with 4 in/10 cm positive ease in the torso compared to underarm chest measurement. It falls off the shoulder because the model has bigger than average shoulders. Please choose the size based on your own body shape, chest measurement and the fit you prefer.
The combination of colors is up to you. If you choose bright colors, with the quirky texture and the shoulder vibe, that will make it a statement piece. It would work well with a bit of body art, if that’s what you are after. Or you can make it a more everyday item in calmer more sedate shades. As with everything I design “MAKE IT YOUR OWN!”
This super quick knit is an advanced beginner/intermediate all season knit. This design is for everyone, it comes in 9 sizes from XS to 5XL.
PATTERN CONSTRUCTION
This garment is knitted from the top down starting with a cast on for the back. The back of the garment is worked down to the armhole, then the back stiches at the bottom are put on hold. The next stage is to work the neck trim from the middle of the back neck. This is worked until it is half the back neck width then it is joined to the stitches picked up from the back shoulders to form the fronts. The front are worked down from there to the armhole. Then both fronts are joined to the back stitches at armhole depth on circular needles. The body of the cardigan is subsequently worked to the hem.
Once the body is finished, the sleeves are knitted. The sleeves can be picked up from the armhole and worked in the round using the preferred method for small circumferences on double-pointed needles or circular needles. Alternatively, the sleeves can be worked separately to the body and joined with a 3-needle bind-off.
