Miyabi
Survive the cold in style! Miyabi is Japanese for “elegance,” and the Miyabi Collar will keep you both elegant and warm during the chilly months. The collar is knit from the top down with fingering-weight yarn. The lace is adapted from a Japanese stitch pattern; optional beads add sparkle. Choose from pullover or buttoned versions.
Yarn: Approx. 300 yd / 275 m of fingering weight yarn.
Beads: 144 coordinating glass beads.
Pullover version:
Yarn: Cherry Tree Hill Supersock Solids, 100% Merino Wool, 420 yd / 384 m per skein, color “Burgundy,” 1 skein.
Beads: Darice Jewelry Designer 10/0, “Gold”, 30 g, 1 pkg.
Buttoned version:
Yarn: Claudia Hand Painted Yarns Fingering Weight, 100% Merino Wool, 175 yd / 160 m per skein, color “Teal Party”, 2 skeins.
Beads: Beader’s Paradise 6/0 Czech Glass E-Beads, 24 g, colors Teal Mix (LT6EMIX72), Turquoise Luster (LT6E78) and Hematite / CPR Mix (LT6E403), 1 pkg each.
Buttons: Favorite Findings “Shellz,” 5/8”, #1801) and coordinating thread.
Notions: Stitch markers; small crochet hook which will fit through hole in beads; yarn needle for weaving in ends; 5-22 buttons
Skills: Following a lace pattern; working lace in the round (pullover version) or flat (buttoned version).
Notes: Beads are optional. The lace patterns are provided in both charted and written form. Beads are added with a crochet hook during knitting, not pre-strung. Instructions on placing beads can be found on p. 5, with special hints for working with seed beads.
