The MKG Many-Striped Mittens were designed and kitted for the 2018 Madison Knitters’ Guild Knit-In Cast On Party.

The MKG Many-Striped Mittens are a basic mitten pattern spiced up with lots of stripes. You decide how to play with those stripes: put all the colors in both mittens or half in each. And, how will you stripe the thumb? To match the hand alongside it, completely different, or have no striping by knitting the thumb in a different color than the hand?

The kit contains:
• One 40 g ball of main color (MC) DK yarn
• Twelve (12) 5.75 g balls of contrast color (CC) DK yarn
• One set of double-point needles size US #4/3.5 mm
• Two stitch markers
• One project bag

The yarn used in the kits is Brown Sheep Prairie Spun DK (100% wool; 256 yds per 100g; hand wash, lay flat to dry).

These supplies will make one larger-sized pair of mittens or two smaller pairs.

Gauge: 6 sts & 9 rows = 1”

Note: This pattern uses a smaller than recommended needle to create a denser, more water- and wind-resistant fabric.

Sizes: (2-4 years, 4-6 years, 6–8 years) 8 years–woman’s S, woman’s M-man’s S, man’s M/L for hand circumference (5.5, 6, 6.5) 7, 8, 8.75”/ (14, 15, 16.5) 18, 20.5, 22 cm

Note: The sizing of this mitten might be a bit short for hands with longer fingers and/or thumb, so you may want to extend the shaping of the mitten and thumb by adding some plain knit rounds (no decreases) between the decrease rounds.
