MMIW Bandana
MMIW Bandana was designed to be a reminder. An item worn in solidarity to remember and stand with our missing and murdered indigenous sisters.
The design is knit in stockinette stitch with a beaded side panel to add a little texture. The bandana was intentionally designed as a simple pattern to use knitting as meditation. I wanted to create something that was clean and beautiful, and also something that would take time. Time that can be used praying, meditating and thinking about what this cause stands for.
I added beaded arrows on the side as a way to point forward to the future. The idea that this world needs to change for our daughters, sisters, mothers and friends. Take this project with you as you travel, knit in your groups, or anywhere and use it as a platform to speak about MMIW.
I will be donating up to $800 to CSVANW from the total between this pattern, printed silk bandanas and bandana sliders hand crafted by Jessica Jonkman both found on my website.
