The pillowy, gooshiness of the brioche stitch is the perfect thing to have around my neck in the bitter Northwest winters and the moebius knitting technique is a fun (and brain bending) way to show off the intriguing color effect.
Once you get past the cast on, which is an homage on the moebius cast on developed by the brilliant Cat Bordhi, and get a feel for the stitch pattern, this project actually goes by quite quickly.
As in all moebius knitting, the first half of the row is the upper portion of the cowl, while the last half of the row is the lower portion. To keep the upper and lower portions of the cowl the same, you will alter the stitch pattern slightly at the halfway point, with the transition from the MC dominant pattern to the CC dominant pattern happening discretely at the back. Since this is brioche knitting, you will only be working with one color at a time (whew!). It is all finished off with a single, very satisfying, i-cord bind off. You can easily adjust the size by casting on more or fewer stitches in multiples of two.
