About Moka Pot:

We are a coffee household. After the start of quarantine I knew we had to figure out how to make delicious coffee at home. Thus, the Moka Pot came along and changed our coffee game forever. This sweater is a part of my inevitable “Quarantine Collection”; because sometimes art imitates life.

Moka Pot is a bottom-up yoked, stranded sweater which is slightly cropped and lightly over sized. The sleeves are knit with a small amount of positive ease aswell. The vibrant ilne work of the moka pots is set in against a dark field to make them really pop. The depth of yoke helps break up a harsh line across the largest of your bust making for a much more flattering yoked garment. Moka Pot is recommended to be knit with 3 to 6 inches of positive ease. In this photograph I am modelling the size 12, which has 5 inches of positive ease on me.

For my Moka Pot I used Gathering Yarn’s Haynes Creek Heathers (197yrds/100g). I used colour number 139 as the main colour.

As for the contrasting colour I used, Manos Del Uruguay’s Alegria Grande (197yrds/100g) in the Carmine colourway, I find using a high twist yarn like this for the colourwork gives you really crisp lines.

I find using a great work horse yarn like Haynes Creek will make a long lasting sweater, while using a hand dyed or kettle dyed yarn in the patterning will give you that luxurious depth of colour. It is a great way to save money on a sweater’s lot of yarn while still making something special and stunning.

This sweater is knit at quite a dense gauge to create a warm garment, this is how I prefer my sweaters for warmth and wearability.

Gauge
Using 4mm needles in Stockinette Stitch with MC: 17.5 sts x 28 rounds.

Tools and Notions:
4mm circular needles or size to obtain gauge and a spare circular needle to hold stitches as you work the rest of the sweater.
3.5mm circular needles or needles one size smaller than needles used to obtain gauge.
Stitch markers as needed and to mark beginning of row.
Tapestry needle for finishing.
