Thanks to the delicate yarn, this lacy top makes a pretty coverup that would work beautifully with summery dresses or strappy evening tops.
The slightly fluted edge is held in place with the beads tracing a waterlily design between the Peri’s Parasols.
It does seem like a vast number of beads to thread but this yarn is strong enough to take it and the design has the huge advantage that all the beads are incorporated very quickly into the first rows leaving the yarn unencumbered for the main section. To get the best effect, try to slide the beads to the outward edge of the motif by slipping the bead held on the “yarn over” first before purling on the next row, for those on the Left Hand side (as viewed from the RS) of the motif and purling before slipping those on the Right Hand side of the motif .
Make sure to cast on and off using a stretchy method as this is quite a “floaty” garment and firm seams might detract and the Peri’s Parasols won’t fan out properly.
The Bead Stitch between the cable vertical lines is very simple to do but is not easy to correct and definitely needs concentration – not recommended for a beginner.
Depending on size of garment, this takes from 740 to 1614 size 8 seed beads.
