Monet's Pool
What can be simpler than a shrug for summer? A flow of fabric to cover shoulders and upper arms like a rippling of color against a wayward breeze is my idea of the perfect cover-up. And, what color! All your most beautiful yarns can go out to play in this easy drop-stitch wave-amid-the-purls design and its companion feather & fan version. I created one loose, drapey and flowing, as I would imagine a lily pond to be should I wear one. The purple version is more compact but no less easy and fun to knit. Try both!
MEASUREMENTS
My blue/aqua/lavender version measures 35 inches/89 cm long and 44 inches/112 cm long wide but this is a forgiving design that accommodates various measurements. The more cropped version has longer sleeves and measures 48 in/123 long and 25 inches /63 cm wide. A myriad of variations exists between and I may have made all of them at one time or another.
NEEDLES
Both versions use size 8mm/11 US needles throughout but here size really doesn’t matter. Smaller needles will deliver more stitch definition whereas I went for the loose and flowing look for one and a tighter, more textured, look for the other. The only caveat is the number of stitches cast on to form the cuffs since the smaller the needle, the more stitches necessary to create a comfortably-fitting cuff.
