The classic cabled sweater made for today. Montague by Rachel Brockman, is a slightly cropped, saddle shoulder, cable and moss stitch pullover with an intriguing neckline we love. This pullover is made for a favorite pair of high-waisted pants or jeans and a snazzy pair of oxfords. Montague is knit from the bottom up in pieces and seamed, then the collar is picked up and worked in the round.

Yarn: Hudson + West Co. Forge in Fawn (natural beige), 5 (5, 6, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 10, 11) skeins.

Suggested Needles: Size US 8 (5 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm): 32” (81 cm) circ. Size US 5 (3.75 mm): 16” (40 cm) circ.

Gauge: 20 sts and 35 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Moss Stitch on larger needles.

Skills required: Cabling with (or without) a cable needle; increasing; decreasing; chart reading; seaming; picking up stitches.
