Technical comments from the pattern:

Garment chest measurements are taken without stretching. The fabric stretches later over the body producing a close fit. Gauge should be attained while working in stockinette stitch. The actual rib stitch of the garment will then pull the fabric together.

From the text: “This design is similar in construction to the Lövlund zigzag sweater. I again started with a basic V pattern, only this time to give form to a vest. It suits many body types, and the diagonal striping is very slimming” (Noro: Knit 40 Fabulous Designs, 83).
