Morning After Scarflet
From the book “Deep South Knitting” and inspired by Bon Temps, Louisiana. Now available for download. Pattern includes Louisiana travel info and Bananas Foster Bread Pudding recipe.
The sticky, sweaty (and very sexy) fictional Louisiana town of Bon Temps is home to author Charlaine Harris’ characters Sookie Stackhouse and her on-again, off- again boyfriend, Vampire Bill. Vampires may be out of the closet following the introduction of synthetic blood (available at the local convenience store), but not all the residents of Bon Temps are excited about their human women consorting with vampires.
We all know that a Southern lady is discreet about her love life, so a vampire-dating girl needs a little something to camouflage the bite marks after a night of passion. Silk scarves might work for Yankee girls, but not in the Deep South -- especially when it’s so hot outside you could pull a baked potato right out of the ground. This “Morning After” Scarflet, with a 6 row lace pattern (reminiscent of vampire fangs!), is perfect for beginning lace knitters. It’s solid enough to stylishly hide the evidence, but open enough to let in a passing breeze. Problem solved!
