Mossy Green Shrug
Something’s coming…what could it be? There’s a green haze around the trees, and in the moss at the bottom of the hill. The air smells of damp leaves and just a little bit like rain…or is it snow? Spring has sprung! But it still has that fragile, brand-new feeling, like a colt standing on its spindly legs for the first time. Precarious, ephemeral, beautiful. That’s the feeling I wanted to capture in this hazy lace shrug.
SIZES To determine how large you should knit the shrug, use a tailor’s measuring tape to measure from the nape of your neck, forward over your left arm, under your left arm, across the middle of your back, under your right arm, and back up to the nape. Divide this measurement by two and then by 8.5 (or your own gauge, if you prefer). Round your result to the nearest whole number, then multiply by 14 and add 2. This final number is the number of stitches you must cast on. The shrug shown was knitted with a cast on of 86 stitches, which took 3 hanks of Berroco Cirrus yarn.
