Here is a pattern for a unisex knit hat with fun texture. It was inspired by moss-covered stones I see on our family hiking days. The hat knits up quickly, and has a variety of stitch patterns, so there’s no time for boredom!

Skill level: beginner to intermediate
Finished dimensions: Sized for children and adults (head circumference 20”/50cm - 22”/55cm)
Yarn: baby or sport weight yarn; about 2 oz/60 g, 250 y/230m
Needles: double point needles 2.75mm/US2 or size to obtain gauge.
Other materials: tapestry needle.
Gauge: 12 st and 18 rows = 2” in stockinette
