This pattern was written for the Green Mountain Knitting Guild for a KAL. The goal is for us to wear them at the the Vermont Sheep and Wool Festival in September.

This bottom up crescent shawl is shaped by working ever wider short rows at the center of the shawl. The gap is closed by working 2 stitches together on the following row instead of wrapping the slipped stitch at the turn. The shawl is sized for a blocked gauge of 4 stitches per inch. While exact gauge is not critical, the knitter should be aware of differences in length relative to changes in gauge. To determine the best fabric, swatch to find a needle and yarn combination that results in suitable drape, block it, and measure the gauge.

Techniques used:
Alternate Loop Cast On
Icelandic Bind Off
Centered Double Decrease
The pattern includes instructions for these techniques. For gauge measurement and drape, swatch in stockinette.

June 4 revision: the chart was revised to work better with stitch markers.
