Mt Fuji really needs no introduction – it is a symbol of Japan and its most visited tourist destination. Commonly referred as “Fuji-san” or “Mr Fuji”, it is loved by many and features in many artworks and drawings. Why not make a crochet version? Mr Fuji the Ragdoll reminds me of a child wanting a cuddle and he’ll be receiving a lot!

Mr Fuji the Ragdoll is a ragdoll style crochet pattern for intermediate crocheters written using US (American) terms. You will work the pieces in rows before crocheting together and stuffing.

The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make ragdolls is essential.

Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished items. My Mr Fuji is approximately 16cm tall (5 inches) and 26cm wide (10 inches).

You will receive one PDF file which requires software like Adobe Reader to open (this is free to download).

You will need:

  • 3.25mm hook/D-3 (US)
  • 10ply yarns/Worsted > 50g yarn in GREEN, less than 50g in WHITE and PINK
  • BLACK 4ply yarn or embroidery thread
  • Scissors
  • Tapestry needle
  • Polyester toy stuffing
  • Stitch marker (optional)

Notes:

  • A yarn with no stretch is best for making toys, I use cotton or cotton blend.
  • For this pattern, I’ve used the following yarns: o GREEN = Bendigo Woollen Mills 10ply cotton in Mint Crush o PINK = Bendigo Woollen Mills 10ply cotton in Pink Rose o WHITE = Bendigo Woollen Mills 10ply cotton in Snow o BLACK = Scheepjes Catona in col. 110 Jet Black
  • This pattern is worked in rows (unless otherwise stated) and you will ch 1 at the end of each row and turn before starting the next row.
