Alternated stitches of single and double crochet create a thick wool cape, inspired by the one Grahame gifts to his new wife. Worked in undyed Highland Wool as Ailee would have spun it, right off the sheep.

One of Nine Crochet designs inspired by The Secret Stitch, the first novel in a new fiber fiction series from C. Jane Reid, tracing the evolution of crochet. Each design is named for a character from the story, with quotes that inspired that accessory.
