My First Lace Shawl
This intermediate skill level shawl is knit from the neck down in 5 stitch bands: garter stitch, a simple eyelet lace, seed stitch, stockinette stitch, and finally ending with wavy Shetland Feather and Fan. It’s a great learning piece and also good for “conversational” knitting for more experienced knitter who want a take-along project.
The model shown is knit with 5 colors (approx. 960 yards/880 meters) of Louet Euroflax: Pattern 1 -110 yards/101 meters; Pattern 2 - 130 yards/120 meters; Pattern 3 - 165 yards/150 meters; Pattern 4 - 185 yard/170 meters; and Pattern 5 - 370 yards/340 meters. The shawl is also stunning knit in a single color.
Needles and notions: US Size 5 (3.75mm) circular needles 24” (60 cm) or longer or size needed to obtain gauge. Locking stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors, blocking pins and tape measure are also needed.
Designed by Maureen Keenan, a portion of the sales of this pattern benefit Knit Michigan, a 501(c)3 non-profit that supports cancer patients and their families.
