When we learned our second child was going to be a little boy, one of my first thoughts was “He’s going to need his own blanket!” I wanted something bold and fun that could grow with him, and I fell in love with the bright colors and fun image of My Little Lion. This was such a fun and relaxing project to work on while waiting to meet our son. I’m so excited to hold him in my arms and wrap him up in this soft and snuggly blanket.

Sizes: 30” wide x 42½” long, including border
The lion motif is 26” wide and 36¼” long, and you could easily make a larger blanket by adding more filler stitches on the top, bottom, and sides.

Yarn: Universal Yarn’s Uptown Worsted (100% Acrylic, 3.5 oz/100 g, 180 yds/165 m)
Blue – 356 Bright Blue – 3 skeins
Orange – 306 Pumpkin – 2 skeins
Yellow – 327 Bright Yellow – 2 skeins
White – 302 White Glow – 1 skein
Black – 324 Black – 1 skein

Instructions:
The body of the blanket is made of single crochet stitches and instructions are provided in a chart only. Written instructions are provided for the border.
It would be possible to use this chart to knit in intarsia, but then the border stitches will not be applicable.

(Wondering what the question mark is for? Well, I added our son’s name to the blanket, and it’s a surprise!)
