These socks were inspired by the migraine episodes I experience—particularly the vivid auras. While the inspiration stems from discomfort, I aimed to create something fun and visually striking. The pattern avoids long floats, making them approachable for the adventurous knitters. They feature a peasant heel enhanced with short rows (developed by Susanne Winter) for a comfortable fit.
Notes
Do to the short floats of the colorwork, use a needle half a size larger than usual for colorwork socks. E.g. If you normally knit colorwork on 2.25 mm / (US 1) needles, you might want to try 2.75 mm / (US 2) needles.
Construction
These cuffs down socks begin with twisted 1 x 1 ribbing and are worked in the round with a peasant heel that features small gussets for a better fit. Stranded colorwork is worked on the leg and feet.
