This was one of my hardest shawls to name! It’s working title is Toxic Snot! Mainly because of the lovely green coloured dangly bits, however, the bobble strings or fringe are very reminiscent of Seaweed - you know the one with bubbles that you would pop when you were young! I found out that it is harvested in Cornwall, so this is the perfect compromise name!
This shawl is similar to the Perranporth Shawl, a right angled triangle shape, worked from point to shortest side, in alternating rows of treble and double crochets. There is one increase in every row, on the same edge It is a large 3 skein shawl, but it is all about the bobbles! There are slim stripes with bobbles in , and a fringe with bobbles that gets longer as the shawl grows! I have created this with 2 skeins of one colour, and a set of mini skeins in a fade. The second sample is in commercial yarn, still 4ply, 2 balls of a plain colour and 1 variegated sock yarn…
It is an fairly easy shawl, but you have to have a little patience with the bobble string fringe. If you have made Praze-an-Beeble, you will be familiar with bobbles, but I will upload a video tutorial for these. There is also no cutting of yarn between rows (only after each bobble section) so you will also be using the method of colour changing as you did on Perranporth and Zennor.

I think you could use all plain colours, or all speckles, or a mix. Key is that 2 balls are the main colour, and 1 ball is all the bobbly bits! You could use 2 different colours and alternate plain sections. Or use two mini fades for the main shawl, and a plain for the fringe You could alternate colours between the bobble stripes to use 3 different skeins, or use a plain colour for the bobbles, use 2 sushi rolls to fade in and out for the whole shawl, but of course how you interpret these colours is up to you! - the combinations are endless!!

Tension/Gauge:
For 4ply using a 3.5mm hook you should get approx. 20st x 16rows before blocking. This swatch is over the pattern, so 1 tr row and 1 dc row as follows:

To make the swatch, always make more stitches than you need. For 10cm, 27ch,
Row 1: 1tr in the 3rd ch from hook and make 1tr in every chain along, turn. (25st)
Row 2: 1ch for the turning ch, (does NOT count as a stitch), work 1 dc in every stitch, starting in the first one, and your last stitch in the turning ch of the previous row, turn.
Row 3: 3ch, (counts as st) 1 tr in each st along the row, turn

Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you have a square swatch. Then measure. If you have more rows/st than tension states, then you will need to increase the size of your hook, if you have less rows/sts, then you will need to go down a hook size.
