Nadala Socks
Is there in English a medical term to describe the state of euphoria triggered by Xmas? “Chrisphoria” maybe?. Yes, definitely, Christmastime freaks me out. Rarely have I enjoyed a glass of wine so much than when I strolled through Christmas markets in Germany with a glass of Glühwein (hot wine) steaming between my fingers. The lights, the food, the smells, the ornaments… they blow my mind. This fleeting lunacy unleashes a burst of my knitting imagination, and I barely have time to draw the first sketch for a pattern, then another one makes its appearance at the rhythm of a Nadala (as we call carols here in Barcelona)l. The thing is, of course, that my mind won’t come up with a pattern that doesn’t include at least one of these: firs, reindeer, mistletoe, snow, holly, garlands…
