Naga Socks
Construction: Knit toe-up with Turkish cast-on and Sherman short-row heel. Written for magic loop or two circulars. “Because of the placement of the decreases and increases this sock does not have as much stretch as most patterns.”
Materials: Cable needle, stitch markers, darning needle.
From Pattern: “The Naga are mythical snake-like gods, the most famous Naga -- Mucalinda -- was said to protect Shakyamuni Buddha during his enlightenment. The undulating scale pattern and cables running up the leg remind me of these serpent gods.”
** Notes **
the stitch pattern doesn’t have a lot of play and some people have found it difficult to get over their heels due to the lack of stretch.
this can be helped by going up a needle size or two, or by adding another repeat to one half of the leg portion (either front or back)
