Nanna
The Syndicate Hats collection is a tribute to my knitting group, Strikkesyndikatet (The Knitting Syndicate). This one is for Nanna.
Nanna probably makes the most Danish designed garments of us all – complicated ones at that. She keeps up very well with the current trend in Danish knitwear design to hold several strands together, and loves an additional thread of mohair to give the knitted item a soft halo. This hat is inspired by this trend. First the brim is worked in the main yarn, then for the body of the hat a strand of mohair is added, giving the hat a nice fuzzy look but without obstructing the simple stitch pattern. A little bit of luxury, a fun construction and intricate simplicity, totally Nanna!
Nanna’s hat is worked from the brim up. The hat is started by working a brim sideways in garter stitch, which is grafted, then stitches are picked up along one side and the body of the hat is worked in the round.
