Knitted edging is 8 stitches wide.

Editor note: “O” is a Yarn Over. The pattern uses a double yarn over, shown as “O two times”. (It also uses a triple yarn over in row one, but you work three stitches in that for the increase.) It’s treated as a single yarn over, when knitting.
