The inspiration for this narrow lace shawl design was simply a desire to create an elegant accessory that could drape over the shoulders without covering whatever was worn underneath. It features horizontal panels of a type of Shetland birds-eye lace and a Japanese lace stitch pattern separated and bordered by panels of seed stitch. It is aimed at an intermediate-level knitter, as the lace in the Shetland pattern is worked on both sides. The linen content in the yarn helps maintain the shape of the shawl, and softness against the body is provided by the merino wool.
