Necia's Hat
There are times as a knitter when you want to knit a quick, mindless project. Something with just enough pizzazz that you don’t end up bored to tears. But I also wanted to make it fun so I used several colors of yarn and made random stripes. You could also just use a hand-dyed yarn instead.
The sample was knit for us ladies with lots of curly hair or locs in a very large size that rests nicely on our head, keeps us warm, but doesn’t flatten our curls. But if you require a smaller hat, there are two additional sizes included.
Sizes: Large Big Curls, Whole-Lotta-Hair
To Fit: 2124, 26 inches circumference.
Yarn: Bijou Basin Ranch Fingering Weight (Bijou Spun (100% Yak) and Tibetan Dream(85% Yak, 15% Nylon))
Total yardage used per color:
• Red: 1 skein, 100 yds
• Orange: 1 skein, 100 yds
• Yellow: 0.5 skein, 50 yds
• Green: 0.5 skein, 50 yds
• White (Tibetan Dream): 30 yds
You could substitute all of these colors for the following:
• Hand-dyed Tibetan Dream: 1 skein, 440 yds
• White (Tibetan Dream): 30 yds
Gauge: In Corrugated Ribbing on Size US 3 Needles: 7 sts = 1”. In Stockinette on Size US 4 Needles: 6 sts = 1”
Needles: US 3 and US 4 16” circular needles and/or dpns only.
Notions: yarn needle.
