My 10 year old niece loves narwhals. A narwhal is a type of whale with a long straight tusk on its head which earned it the nickname, unicorn whale. A cheerful narwhal on the front and striped sleeves makes it fun to knit and a boxy shape, with 6 inches of ease and modified drop shoulders makes it a cozy sweater to wear with a pair of jeans. It is knit in pieces from the bottom up, then seamed together.

Notes:
I know the photo makes it look as if I worked the green in stripes but that is a problem with the camera. It is a plain green.

Work chart in st st.

Knit Odd numbered rows from right to left

Purl even number rows from left to right

This sweater is worked in pieces from the bottom up and seamed

If you want a longer sweater, add rows before you begin chart. Remember to add rows to both the back and the front.

If you don’t want a hoodie, you can continue with the neckband for 2.25 inches and fold it in half and sew.

Random contrasting stripes can be added to sleeve as shown in picture. Pattern calls for plain sleeves.
