Designed in honor of my Great-Uncle (Zio) Nello and the charming city of Venice, Italy which is dear to me. The pattern design along the front / top of the Nello House Sock is symbolic of the rippling waters of the winding Grand Canal in Venice which runs throughout the city.

The Nello House socks are intended to be worn as a slightly relaxed fit house sock. At DK weight, these socks are warm and cozy! The Nello House socks are knit (herringbone) cuff-down holding just one strand of sock weight yarn to begin, then transition to double-stranded for the remainder. This pattern includes a gusset heel and an optional modified three-needle bind off toe closure for a decorative exposed seam.

Suggested Needles & Notions

• Size “A” US 8 / 5 mm needle
• Size “B” US 5 / 3.5 mm needle
• DPNS or circulars in both sizes listed, per
  your preference for small circumference knitting. Note: Using a set of interchangeable circular needles is recommended
• Additional needle in smallest size if working the modified 3-needle bind off toe closure
• Darning needle, scissors and waste yarn
• Distinct BOR marker & 2 additional markers

Gauge Information
Herringbone
24 sts / 26 rnds per 4” in herringbone worked in the round with US 8 / 5 mm needle, holding one strand of yarn.

Stockinette Stitch
24 sts / 30 rows per 4” in stockinette stitch worked in the round with US 5 / 3.75 mm needle, holding two strands of yarn.
