While paging through the Barbara Walker Treasuries, I saw Chinese Lace and immediately pictured long lines of Chinese dragons snaking down the streets during New Year’s celebrations. Bright bold colors came to mind, reds, yellows, the vibrancy of paper lanterns and colorful costumes.

The Spunky Eclectic fiber club color New Day was a perfect fit in both color and name. Yellow to red, the fiber was carefully hand carded into a gradient, then spun and knit as lace weight singles. I had enough yarn (about 600 yards) to make two scarves; one from yellow to light orange/red, and the second from light red to a deep burgundy. The commercial yarn scarf shown is knit in a brilliant red cinnabar.

The pattern keeps your attention with lace worked on both sides. Feel free to work more repeats across to make a stole. All samples shown use two repeats.

Pattern includes both chart and written instructions.

I have added the pages of the pdf separately as downloads as well. There were some reports of problems viewing the combined pdf on Mac.
