This vest design was originally published in the Knotions web magazine 2008 winter issue as Fence.

This pattern was changed little by little over the last 3 years. Finally, it evolved into an overlapped deep V and scooped deep U neck vest named “New Fence”.**

Finished Size
30 (33½, 36½, 39½, 43, 46, 49, 52½)” bust circumference.
Shown measure is 33½” with positive ½” ease with dark purple and positive 1” ease with oatmeal.

Yarn
DK weight merino super wash (100% super washed merino wool): dark purple OR
DK weight single ply (50% virgin wool, 50% acrylic): oatmeal,
338 (422, 500, 588, 695, 794, 903, 1036) yd / 309 (385, 457, 537, 635, 726, 825, 947) m

Needle
US size 6 (4.0mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions
Stitch markers, moveable markers, stitch holders (or safety pins), tapestry needle.
Gauge
20 sts 28 rows = 4” in straggled eyelet patt.
24 sts 30 rows = 4” in st st.

Sizing?
This pattern for “new fence” suggests close fit. Straggled eyelet pattern is very elastic.
Negative 2”~ positive 1” is suitable when you choice woolen based yarn.
For cotton based yarn, 0 ~ positive 2” ease is suitable.

Need longer length?
Add desire length (multiple of 4 rows) before the first waist decreased row.

Want to knit in round?
Straggled eyelet pattern is rep of k2tog and yo. This lovely airy pattern is slightly stretched bias.
Means, if you knit this pattern in round(aka seamless), it will twist over 2” at the side view.
For the best result, please follow instruction and knit in pieces.
