Newstead is a quick knit on relatively large needles. It makes for a cozy sweatshirt to wear in the evenings when things cool off, or at the beginning of a brisk fall hike.

Knitting starts in the round and the front pocket pouch is worked as you go. The pieces is separated for the armholes and then shoulders are joined with a three-needle bind off. Sleeves are picked up at the armholes and worked down to the cuff. The drop shoulder design eliminates the need for short row cap shaping. The final touch is the collar with a tie-cord which is twisted and not knit.

The pattern is sized from xxs to 5x or a bust circumference of 37” to 66” intended to be worn with quite a bit of ease.

Two colors are used: Denim and Honey-one more skien of Denim than Honey works best.
