Ngahuru (Ngar-hu-ru) is te reo Maori for Autumn. When the nip in the air has you reaching for something else to put on, Ngahuru is the go to shawl. It is instant happy colour on grey days and light and airy so you feel gently hugged!
Ngahuru is a quick, easy knit and one will fly off your needles as you watch the interplay of colours in the garter stitch sections interspersed with easy lace. The sections are never too long so you find you want to knit the next bit to see how it looks. The bias shape means you don’t end up with too many stitches on your needles and is a comfortable shape to wear.
You start with a few stitches and increase on one side of shawl throughout while decreasing on the other even while working the lace sections.
