Nightingale was originally designed to be a part of a Berroco booklet in 2017. It was designed to be that sweater you can toss over an outfit that can be dressed up or down. Wear it to work, but still feel super comfy.

This design originally came in a limited number of sizes, and has now been redesigned with a larger range of sizes, clearer line-by-line directions, and with directions to have waist and hip shaping or not. (Please note that the e-book version has not been updated, and is the original pattern with abbreviated writing and limited sizing; see below for more details.)

Noriko (photo 1) and Maddy (wearing glasses) are both wearing Size 4 (42”) and have a 41” and 39” chest circumference, respectively. This sample has the waist and hip shaping.

If you’re more into a pullover, check out Nightingale Pullover (which has a crew neck, shorter length, and no shaping for a more relaxed feel)!

Sizes
1 (2, 3, 4, 5)(6, 7, 8, 9)
The model on page 1 has a 39”/99cm full chest circumference and is wearing a Size 4 with +3”/8cm ease. The model in the first photo has a 41”/104cm full chest circumference and is wearing the same Size 4.
It is recommended to choose a size that will give you –4” to zero/-10 to zero cm ease at full chest measurement. Test knitters found that they were happy with ease anywhere between –6” to +4”/-15 to +10cm ease at full chest measurement. #sizeinclusive
