This vest is more of a poncho with its generous positive ease, I usually call this type of garment a “voncho” myself.

Named in honor of the Coming Nightingale, a small brown bird who sings a remarkably spirited tune as it goes about its life in Europe and sub-saharan Africa. Like the bird’s lovely song this voncho will move effortlessly with you through your day what ever that day may bring. The soft and lofty hand of Haunui makes this piece useful as a layering element on those tricky days when it’s not quite one season or another.

The stitch makes people wonder was it knit, was it crocheted? How did it all come together so beautifully? Why does the fringe move like that, it appears to have no end….

Like the lovely bird this voncho will move with you night and day and bring to your face a smile knowing you are wearing something that was designed to become a wardrobe staple.

So sit back, relax, and listen to the song of your hook working in perfect harmony with this lovely yarn to create your own piece of wearable art.
