The Noma balaclava is knitted with two strands of yarn held together and in Fisherman’s rib.
This stitch has the same aspect as the brioche stitch but is knitted differently.

The mid-section is knitted in back and forth, then stitches are
knitted up on each side of the mid-section and continue in
back and forth to the neck. From here, you will have to cast on
new stitches, and continue in the round.
Finish with a ribbed edge around the face-opening.
