Nomin
This is an English pattern for an oversized long cardigan called Nomin.
The word Nomin means a farmer who works with soil. It is inspired by a haori, a Japanese-style jacket worn over kimono.
It is very simple and easy to knit, which requires only basic knitting techniques. Also, it is super easy to make modifications according to your height and body size.
Please note that this pattern has no specific instructions about the color combinations or yarn to use. Because choosing yarn and playing with color is the most fun part, so I wanted you to play with color and create your own Nomin. However, I included color guides that may inspire you!!
** The yarn used to knit a model garment is my handspun yarn. (Not available for sale) The yarn weight is about worsted to Aran (1.9m/g yarn).
** The pattern has a very simplified modification note for a short-length version.

FAQ
1) Would it be ok to use a long tail cast on versus a crochet cast on?
Yes for the shorter-length version. However, when picking up stitches for the sleeve, it can be a little tricky.
For the longer version(the original one), I recommend using a crochet cast on. It is because the long-tail cast-on is stretchier than the crochet cast on. So the measurement of body length can elongate due to gravity.
2) I’m uncertain about how you accomplished the color “blotches” in the short version - did you knit them using intarsia?
Yes! you guessed! I use intarsia to change colors on the garment. Sometimes I use 5 or more strands of yarns to create those color blotches! Confusing, but very fun process!
