Star patterned mittens originated in Selbu, Norway, and feature a large motif on the back and Salt and Pepper seeding on the thumb and palm. This version is based on mittens from Labrador and Newfoundland, where diamonds are a popular filler motif and thumb gores are set off by contrasting lines.
