Inspired by traditional pinwheel quilt motifs, the Northwoods Coasters squares are a fast and fun way to cozy up a winter tabletop.

The squares are knit with garter stitch short rows, in one piece, from small amounts of rustic tweed yarn. A log cabin-style border is picked up and knit on to finish the square, completing the quilt theme.

Perfect as a set or package one or two with a lovely mug or favorite coffee for a simple gift. Also nice for using up those precious scraps of special yarn, or piecing together in larger projects such as pillow covers or blankets.
