Nostalgia Shawl
I love making shawls, so designing one was always something I wanted to do. This particular shawl brings a lot of nostalgic memories. It is designed with Orenburg Honeycomb stitch, a very old lace technique that comes from the Orenburg region of Russia.
This lace technique uses only yarn overs and k2tog to create very complex and completely reversible lace patterns. Neat, isn’t it? Orenburg Honeycomb is just one of those stitch patterns.
I am originally from Russia. I remember my grandma wearing shawls made with this lace technique. Thus the multitude of memories and the Nostalgia name for the shawl.
Gauge Notes: 16 st, 34-36 rows =20 cm/4” in garter stitch with 4mm needles (or size needed to get gauge).
This shawl is completely reversible, more so if you use one color only!!!
