The pattern was initially intended to be worn by cancer patients, but may be made for the general population as well. If made for cancer patients, it is highly recommended that the suggested cotton fiber be used. The hat is worked from the top down starting at the crown and worked to just below the ears. The brim is worked in two pieces, crocheted together, with plastic canvas sandwiched in between, and attached to the bottom edge. However, the brim may be omitted to make a beanie with a post-stitch ribbed edging, and instructions are included. Additional rounds may be added to make it slouchy. Finally, an African flower or button (or both) may be added for embellishment, and the flower pattern, along with links for a suggested tutorial, are also included.
