The Year of Hats is back, this time featuring our latest yarn in the Germantown line, Germantown DK! The Year of DK Hats will feature 12 free patterns using our favorite knitting techniques.

April’s design is Oberon by Kate Gagnon Osborn. This lovely cabled hat begins with a tubular cast on followed by deep 1 x 1 ribbing. The body is worked in a classic 4 stitch cable and garter pattern and integrated decreases shape the crown. Fully charted, the stitch pattern is easy to memorize and makes for a great project to practice cabling without a cable needle!

Buy a kit from our site or ask for it at your favorite LYS!

Worthy of Note
This pattern is worked in the round from the bottom up.
A K1, P1 ribbing is worked to form a brim then a cable
chart is worked for the body of the hat. You will shift the
beginning of the round over four stitches on the first round
of the decrease section.
