The body of the sweater is worked from the bottom up, starting with german short rows to create a high low effect. Knit in the round till the armholes, then worked flat. Slight shaping in the neck. Sleeves are picked up and knit down. All these techniques are used so the knitter is able to fit the garment to their size as they are knitting.
