Octopus Snuggles
This super soft and cuddly crocheted octopus is sure to bring a smile to children of all ages. It is especially comforting for premature babies as the tentacles resemble the umbilical cord which can help soothe them and aid in their growth.
My crocheted octopus pattern is different from others in that the yarn used is so thick and soft that it makes the octopus look and feel like a high end plush toy. It can be finished in about an hour using the larger hook.
Materials used in the pattern are Yarnspirations Bernat Baby Blanket yarn which is a super bulky #6 weight, approximately 80 yards is used, US size L (8mm) crochet hook, two 10mm safety eyes, polyester filling, yarn needle, stitch marker and scissors.
The finished octopus measures 10” in length and 5” in head width. Over time and with use, the tentacles will stretch a few inches, but will never straighten out completely due to the stitch used. The head is crocheted in the round and the tentacles are crocheted separately and then attached to the head, with instructions and photos detailing the attachment method.
The skill level is advanced beginner and the detailed instructions include photos for clarification during various stages in the pattern.
With your purchase of my octopus pattern, you will also receive my Calming Cuddles baby blanket pattern made with the same yarn and using Bernat Pipsqueak for the edging.
All of my patterns have been reviewed by professional pattern testers and tech editors to ensure accuracy and to make sure the instructions are easy to read and understand.
