Ohra
Ohra is the Finnish word for barley. The soft, textural quality of this shawl reminds me of gentle, rippling fields of grain on a summer evening.
Materials:
Yarn:
Ohra is designed to use 4 colors of fingering weight yarn. You’ll need 2 full size skeins (100 g) and 2 minis (20 g) or the equivalent.
Sample uses Olann Sock Sport fingering weight (80% superwash merino wool/ 20% nylon, 399 yards 365 m)
MC1: Alchemy (black/white/peach speckle)
MC2: Driftwood (peach/green variegated)
CC1: Broken Promises (pale peach variegated)
CC2: Moth (black/white speckle)
Needles:
US 6 (4 mm) needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Other Notions:
Stitch markers, cable needle, scissors, crochet hook (US 8 or similar size), darning needle
Gauge:
17 sts and 32 rows over 4” in stockinette. Note that gauge is not critically important for this design, but your finished dimensions/ yarn usage will vary if your gauge differs from that stated.
Finished Dimensions:
68” wide by 26” deep
Pattern Notes:
This triangle shawl is worked from the top down, beginning with a garter tab cast on.
