This hat is, after the cowl and the sweater, the third piece in the Old Compass collection. Same as the cowl, it is double-sided and reversible. One side with the beautiful, “all-over” colorwork, and the other side with simple stripes. This will give you quite a few options on how to wear the hat, either one or the other side, or both visible with the bottom folded for some extra warmth.

PATTERN NOTES:

The Old Compass hat is worked from the brim up in the round in two directions, knit as a long tube in two different patterns, each finished with its respective crown.

The hat begins with a provisional cast on in the striped section. After a few stripes are worked you change to the colorwork section, which is completed with crown shaping. The remaining part of the striped section is then picked up again and finished the same way as the colorwork side.

The pattern provides charts for the colorwork body and for both crowns, as well as written instructions for the striped crown.
Additionally, it comes with two crown charts to choose from for the colorwork side, which will allow you to adjust the length very easily to your own hat style preferences.
The pattern is very adaptable when it comes to size or gauge discrepancies.
