Long, thin triangular scarf worked in classic Old Shale stitch, only 4 row repeat. Made from the point upwards, casting on on each row to make the triangle.
Can be worked in any DK yarn with a stocking stitch tension of 20 -22 sts to 10cm (4in).
Tension (gauge): One repeat of Old Shale pattern (23 sts) measures 12cm (4¾in) using 5mm needles.
28 rows to 10cm (4in) measured over Old Shale pattern using 5mm needles.
Finished Size: After blocking, scarf is 24cm (9½in) wide at centre and 192cm (75½in) long.
Yarn amounts: 3 x 50g balls of Adriafil Regina in shade 082 grey (50g = 125m/136yds)
Or 375m (408yds) of similar DK weight yarn that has a stocking stitch tension of 20 - 22 sts to 10cm (4in).
