In the Italian landscape one of the most typical things are the olive trees. Their round, low shape and grayish green color are very distinctive. The trees dot the fields from north to south. When autumn approaches, in certain zones people lay nets under the trees so the olives fall directly on the nets. The olive picking season is a busy time of year, and in the countryside most of the families have their own olivo oil for the whole year.
This cowl takes its inspiration from the colors of the olive trees and olives, and the narrow olive leaves. Lace panels alternate with stockinette stitch sections.
Knitting begins flat, and later the piece is joined in the round. The pieces are joined together as you go and modified Kitchener stitch closes the center bottom.
