Olney
Visiting Budapest this summer, I made sure to visit a local yarn store and bring home something special. This skein of Sheepish Twist (colorway Medlar) has a range of beautiful oranges that made me thing of paprika; I had to have it, and I knew it would inspire me.
The Olney Shawl is an easy Stockinette stitch triangle worked from tip to garter and eyelet base. A lace cable runs along the side, and the garter stitch edging is picked up and worked last.
This is a good project to learn basic lace stitches (yarn over, ssk, k2tog) and cabling, so it’s good for advanced beginners who are looking for a challenge.
After blocking, the shawl has a wingpsan of 52” and a back length of 23”, perfect size for wearing around your shoulders or at your neck.
One skein of fingering weight yarn and a 24” size US5 (3.75mm) needle, a cable needle and a stitch marker are all the supplies you need.
The pattern has been tech edited---thanks to Katherine Vaughn.
